Action Figures is an interview/discussion series hosted by artist/curator/educator Katie Taft and held in the gallery on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.
For each event, a (usually) local person is invited to talk about their experiences living and working in the “Art World.” We discuss their backgrounds, influences, art-making, and how and creative processes.
Past speakers have included multiple visual artists, curators, gallery owners and directors, arts administrators, musicians, and choreographers, and in the future could include just about anyone and anything else.
THIS MONTH: Judy Anderson
Tuesday, May 8th at 7 pm. $5/3 members
Judy Anderson is a visual artist whose mixed-media paintings and book forms incorporate words and images as they express her relationship with nature, the built environment, and the culture that surrounds her. She often works in series that have been inspired by artist residencies in the United States and Italy, collaborating with poets to incorporate narratives that invite the viewer to “read” the work in a number of ways. She is an artist and teacher, and is passionately involved in PlatteForum, an artist residency center in Denver, Colorado created in 2002.
