John is a master fine-art printer specializing in large-format gelatin silver and alternative print-making processes. He has exhibited his work widely and is a long-standing member of the Edge Gallery collective in Denver.

Karen Divine is an award-winning photographer who is known internationally for her masterful composite work using the iPhone. The iPhone has become an incredible camera and tool. Join Karen in a workshop designed to enhance your seeing – from what’s right in front of your eyes into a world of abstractions, reflections and layers. Using the iPhone and focusing on just a few apps, Karen will help you find the “magic in the mundane” and the “poetry in the commonplace” and integrate these concepts into a final piece. Through practical demonstrations and a “field trip” in our immediate surroundings we will learn to combine the images using Juxstaposer, Image Blender, Hipstamatic, Scratchcam FX and Snapseed (time permitting) in order to express your own unique vision as a photographic artist.
Cost: $108 for 2 weeks for ASLD and CPAC members, $120 for non-members (with a $15.00 materials fee)
Saturdays, August 3rd and August 10th
9:00 am- 4:00 pm
Learn about photography’s simplistic origins and understand the basics of film photography by building your own traditional pinhole camera or a variety of pinhole caps for your DSLR camera. Experiment with this fun and accessible photographic process as you shoot and process traditional black and white pinhole photographs in a darkroom, or shoot and print your digital pinhole photographs on a small-format printer.
