Following last year’s very successful tin-type sessions at the Botanic Gardens, CPAC and the Arts Students League of Denver (ASLD) will co-host a Tin-Type Portrait Day at ASLD’s garden on Saturday, September 13.  Proceeds from the event will support educational programming and partnership projects between the two organizations.

Our Portrait Day photographers are German Murillo, Denis Roussel, and Jackie Webster. Other photographers may be scheduled according to demand.

Tin-Type Portrait Day offers individuals and small groups the chance to have their portrait taken by a celebrated regional photographer using the historic “wet plate” process of tin-type photography, which dates back to the late 19th century. This is both portrait session and history lesson – participants will be fascinated to watch their portraits develop outside one of the portable darkrooms set up for this event. The finished plates will be available for pick-up at ASLD Monday, September 15.

Groups of up to 4 people will enjoy a 30-minute photo session in the gardens of ASLD. The cost of each session with one unique tin-type print is $85 or $60, depending on size. Sitters can receive a high-resolution image file of the tin-type for an additional $15.  Fees include full reproduction permissions.

Sessions must be scheduled in advance by phone or on the CPAC website. For more information call CPAC at 303-837-1341 or email info@cpacphoto.org

After you have made your reservation a CPAC representative will call you to discuss your preferred sitting time. Reserve your place below:
