02 Apr CPAC/Action Figures! score in Westword’s “Best of Denver”
We’re chuffed – that’s stoked to you, dude – to announce that CPAC scooped up two categories of Westword magazine’s “2012 Best of Denver” awards.
Under “Best Arts Merger” the magazine wrote this snap judgment about our August 2011 merger with Working with Artists: “Now under the directorship of Rupert Jenkins as the New Colorado Photographic Arts Center, the strengths of both venues, pre-merger — WWA’s instructional side and CPAC’s curatorial reach — combine to make this a powerhouse representative of the future of photography in Colorado. We can’t wait to see what develops.” Full citation here
For the second award our dear friend and colleague, the inimitable Katie Taft, brought in the “Best Shmoozer for Artists” for her “Action Figures” art talk series. Westword wrote that Taft’s previous series of talks, “Self-Made” “wasn’t an idea that was ready to be tabled altogether. Taft brought the idea back into play last year, when “Action Figures” debuted as a monthly event at [CPAC]. A new opportunity for artists to get together and share ideas and challenges, “Action Figures” provides both a fascinating look at the artistic process and a kick in the butt for working artists. Go be inspired.” Congratulations Katie, and thanks for bringing so many great artists and audience members to CPAC! The full citation can be accessed here. Upcoming “Action Figures” schedule is on the CPAC web site here.
