Take your images out of your device and get your hands dirty printing images with ink and press! ImagOn is a non-toxic intaglio-type process developed by English artist Keith Howard. It is a low-tech photo-based printmaking process that suitable for a wide range of ages and ability levels. “ImagOn” is a light-sensitive blue film that is adhered to a piece of plexiglass (or metal for etching). The film is then exposed to UV light with a digital negative (either a photo or a drawing, etc). Next, the image is developed in solution of soda ash and water. Finally the plate is inked up similar to an etching or solar plate, and printed onto archival fine art paper through an etching press. Participants can choose to leave the print as-is or add mixed media elements as well (draw/paint/print/sew).
Plate fee: The cost is $5 per plate to make, with an additional $10 if students wish to keep their plates at the conclusion of the workshop. One plate is included with your material fee.
