People often ask for advice about the best camera that they should get, and whether they need to get better fixed lenses or more flexible zoom lenses. My answer lately has been that the best camera is the one you will carry with you. What are you usually carrying? For most of us, the one thing that is always present is a cell phone.
To prove that point, I took *only* my cell phone with me on a 3 week vacation to Europe. Using the images that I captured on that trip, I was able to truly create a narrative of the events, and a documentation of our time abroad. This class is an extension of that approach. In this workshop, I will work with you to not only think about the process of composing a story with your images, but also how to bring those images to life through editing and presentation, through app choices, and understanding how to avoid the worst mistakes in image making. We will also briefly discuss some of the issues around sharing images, including using images in online galleries, and safety, security, and copyright of both personal images, and those found online that were created by others.
*Required supplies: smart phone (ie iPhone, Droid or other model) with camera app(s) of student’s choice
